How to Decorate Romantic Gift Baskets

Romantic gift baskets are a great way to show your affection for that special someone at any time of the year. But in order to be truly romantic these gift baskets should be personally decorated. Whether your romantic gift baskets are put together yourself or bought ready to give, they will mean much more to your special someone if you add a personal touch through decorating.

Decorating romantic gift baskets can be very simple, or very difficult, depending on your skill level with arts and crafts. There are many ways that you can decorate romantic gift baskets. Feel free to add to these ideas or adapt them with your own creativity. After all, the sky is the limit!

At your local hobby store you will find raffia and various small trinkets for decorating wreaths and baskets. You can use these to decorate your romantic gift baskets. Purchase trinkets that are related to the interests or hobbies of your special someone. For example, if your boyfriend is into sports, you could buy little footballs and baseballs. These trinkets should be those that have a small hole in which to run string.

Cut a long string of raffia, and loop the end through the corner of one handle, where the handle meets the basket. Tie it off with a firm knot. Then, string a trinket onto the string of raffia. Loop the raffia through the next weave, and tie it off. The raffia need not be tight along the handle in order for it to look nice. Add another trinket.

Keep with this pattern as you work your way along the handle. When you reach the other side, tie a firm not in the raffia where the handle meets the basket. Tie trinkets on the very end of your raffia string, and tie the remainder into a bow on the side of the basket.

If you are feeling particularly industrious, you can repeat this pattern around the rim of the basket. Finish off your basket by cutting four new, fairly equal strings of raffia. Holding them together, loop them through the weave at the front of the basket, and tie off gently. Then, tie these strands together in a bow.

If you like, you can add even more trinkets to the bow at the front of the romantic gift baskets. You can further personalize by getting colored raffia in the favorite colors of your special someone. When you are finished, you will have turned plain, store bought romantic gift baskets into personalized treasures that will be kept for years to come.
